Are there any modifications you've had done to your home that have proven to be really helpful? Maybe little things or obscure things that not everyone would think of!

Well, we did the obvious modifications on our new house: widened doorways, hard floors, roll-in shower, ramps, Pull-out shelves in the kitchen, etc. One idea I have been wanting to try is to install a handle near the hinge side of a door so I can pull it closed after I roll through without having to turn around and roll halfway back in. I could easily use drawer pulls that match with what we have in the house so they look nice. They would also reduce the risk of getting fingers pinched in the door. Maybe I'll run out to the store today and try a few. I'll post pics if I do.

@jaarch, I'd love to see some pictures if you did or do end up doing this! When we renovated my brother's bathroom in our old house, we took out the under-sink cabinets and only had them on the side so he could roll under, put in pocket doors, and tilted the mirror slightly downwards. In his closet, we put in pull-out drawer shelving. The most recent struggle is him finding an accessible place of his own to rent.

Here are the two doors I've done so far. They work really well too!

Ahh, I get it now, @jaarch! Nice idea. Indeed, way better than rolling halfway back in.

The biggest modification that was done and the most helpful was my roll in shower. It made showering so much easier and convenient. Also having hardwood and/or tile floors.
