How do you test drive cars?

Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering how you test drive your vehicles before you purchase? Do you bring your own portable hand controls? Do you request that the dealership provide hand controls for you in order to test drive? Do you ride as a passenger as someone else drives?

I have portable hand controls, so I bring them to dealerships and just pop them into any vehicle I want to test.  It's a bit harder with some new cars that have wedge shape pedals, but otherwise it works fine for me.  Currently I drive a Chevy Equinox which is a SUV. I have a hoyer lift in the back which picks up my power wheelchair and fits it in the back (when the seats are folded) down.  But after my fiance and I get married this fall we'll be back out looking for vehicles that can fit both our wheelchairs and some car seats! Any suggestions????

I'm guessing you aren't talking about accessible vehicle dealers? Some have vehicles with everything that you can test drive there. But I was wanting to look at a new vehicle that i'd have to actually go the car dealership for and I'm assuming someone will have to drive me for the test drive.
