Bowel AD landed us in the ER...

AD due to bowel issues...
My partner and I recently spent a weekend at his parents. It was a very relaxing weekend until our bowel program, and he had a VERY hard time going to the bathroom. I tried everything from digital stimulation, olive oil, suppositories, warm lemon water, etc etc....the result: he suddenly had goosebumps, a massive and quick onset HEADACHE every time I did stimulation. We have never experienced anything like this in our lives....
We returned home and tried to regain some normalcy. The next few days, no sleep, unpredictable and quick onset migraines occurred repeatedly. After day 3, we HAD to go to the ER... the diagnosis...."mild bladder infection they assumed"...but, once we had the results back...it came out to be nothing.
After talking to peers online and checking with a nurse in the rehabilitation clinic that Dan was hospitilized in for months, it was determined to be an "Autonomic Dysreflexia Hangover". Meaning excruciating headaches and no sleep can last for up to 2 weeks.
IF anything we hope this information can be valuable to someone else. We are only 3 years post injury and this really scared and shook us to the core.

No, bowel AD is not typical for us when we do the program. This was a very, very unusual situation for us and honestly we still don't know what caused it. We have not had a situation like this since. Praise Jesus!

@Sterlion
We use the "magic bullet" suppositories and lubrication. The combination of that with a green smoothie in the morning, and large salad the previous night are a win/win.
