Hi, Koli1962, It can be hard to find someone who is comfortable with treating issues with spinal cord injury. A physical medicine specialist can do it. That is a physiatrist. They are specially educated in just these matters and probably could help with your other concerns as well. You might find one locally in your area or they can be found at any rehabilitation hospital. If you find one that specialized in spinal cord injury, all the better but any physiatrist will know about AD. If you live near an academic medical center with a physical medicine and rehabilitation department, they will have physiatrists on staff as well. Neurologists are familiar with this diagnosis as well but if they do not regularly see patients with SCI, they may be hesitant to make the diagnosis. Your primary healthcare provider would be able to provide the name of a specialist as well so do not hesitate to ask. It is not unusual for a patient to request a specialist for a special need.
